USinternetworking Inc, the Annapolis, Maryland-based applications outsourcer, has signed up with Peoplesoft Inc to provide externally managed Peoplesoft enterprise resource planning applications to mid-sized companies. USi provides applications over the internet to customers who pay a flat monthly fee. Customers avoid capital outlay and need only the minimum of technical resources. The company is taking Peoplesoft’s Select applications, geared towards mid-sized companies, including financial management, procurement, revenue and order administration and human resources. The applications will fit into USi’s Managed Application Portfolio business application service. The company also has deals in place with Sagent Technology Inc for data marts, Siebel Systems Inc for customer relationship management and BroadVision Inc and Microsoft Corp for electronic commerce. USi recently opened the first data center in a planned worldwide network to connect the internet backbones of North America, Europe, and Asia, using server from Hewlett-Packard Co and networking equipment from Cisco Systems Inc. US West Inc took a minority equity stake in the company last month.
