Inprise Corp is really gunning the enterprise pedal and it’s hard to believe it was still ‘Borland, the struggling development tools vendor’ back in April. It has now won a further ten-year multi-million dollar deal to supply Hitachi Ltd with the VisiBroker Corba object request broker it inherited from Visigenic Inc’s PostModern Computing unit, plus other technologies. Inprise has already added its Corba technology to extend Hitachi’s TP1 OLTP monitor, now called TPBroker. Inprise will provide Hitachi with other Corba and Java technologies. In Japan, Hitachi is also said to be marketing a suite of Corba technologies called Network ObjectPlaza though we could find no record of it.
