Oracle has unveiled its Cloud Social Services, an enterprise social platform offering which will allow the company sell more business software services to its corporate clients over the Internet.

Oracle Cloud delivers a suite of integrated services that provide customers with subscription-based access to Oracle Platform Services, Application Services, and Social Services, which will be managed, hosted and supported by the company.

Backed by infrastructure like Oracle Exadata and Oracle Exalogic, the software provides customers and partners with infrastructure for running key business applications.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison said the company is now announcing the most comprehensive Cloud on the planet Earth.

"Most cloud vendors only have niche assets. They don’t have platforms to extend," he added.

"Oracle is the only vendor that offers a complete suite of modern, socially-enabled applications, all based on a standards-based platform."

Oracle’s cloud service will employ more than 100 applications, including the products obtained by acquiring companies like Taleo Corporation (http://enterpriseapplications.cbronline.com/news/oracle-intensifies-cloud-push-with-taleo-buy-090212) and RightNow Technologies. Built on a common and enterprise-grade set of infrastructure components, Oracle Cloud Platform Services enable customers to build, deploy and manage bespoke applications, the company noted.

Oracle Cloud Platform Services will allow database services to manage data and build database applications with the Oracle Database; and Java Services to develop, deploy and manage Java applications with Oracle WebLogic, among others.

Oracle Cloud Application Services will offer ERP services, human capital management, talent management, sales and marketing services and customer experience services.

Oracle’s integrated social platform will include Social Network to enable enterprise collaboration and social networking for business; with the other being Social Data Services to aggregate data from both social networks and enterprise data sources.

For marketers, there are two services, Social Marketing and Engagement Services to create, publish and report on their social marketing campaigns; and Social Intelligence Services to analyse social media interactions.
