EMC World kicked off its conference in Las Vegas with plenty of announcements expected for estimated 14,000 people in attendance and the wider world.

So far there has been several product releases and enhancements and to help you keep track, CBR has compiled a list.

1. XtremIO updates
This free software update to existing customers is aimed at boosting workload consolidation and automation and uses a 40TB X-Brick which is double the density of the previous system.
It is claimed that the all-flash array, dubbed ‘The Beast’ will deliver up to 33% more performance. It has been improved to provide enhanced support for hybrid cloud and private cloud services and additional updates have been added to the copy data management services.

2. VMAX3 updates
The Enterprise Data Service Platform separates software data services from the underlying platform and is designed to simply management and reduce time to provision by up to 95%.
This ties in with XtremIO with an optional X-Brick and also extends storage tiering to other storage platforms and the cloud with FAST.X. The extended tiering to the cloud is done with CloudArray integration.

3. EMC VNXe
The project formerly known as Project Liberty is now the virtualised EMC VNXe which is a solution aimed at IT organisations that are looking to Software-Defined Storage with DevOps environments.
The vVNX Community Edition software stack is designed to help customers to create test and development environments based on the VNXe storage. This also means that customers won’t need to have dedicated storage hardware.
To build up the VNX group an all-flash variant is available, the VNXe3200 which is 3TB, sold through the EMC Business Partner Program network and has a starting price under $25,000.

4. EMC CloudBoost and CloudArray
Targeting the cloud market by making it easier for customers to use the full array of cloud solutions, EMC has optimised its products to deliver cloud products across its portfolio.
CloudArray enables tiering to cloud or object storage from the VMAX3 platform with the goal of lowering costs by moving data to lower-cost storage.
CloodBoost is designed to enable Avamar and the company’s Networker to help protect data on both its cloud services and third parties’.

5. Data protection
Building on the CloudBoost enabling of Avamar EMC has decided wants to protect data everywhere, to reach this goal it has developed Data Domain, which provides purpose-built backup appliances.
Added to this, the cloud-enablement of the suite and CloudBoost has been the addition of Office365 protection to Spanning, other points of note is the implementation of universal search and RecoverPoint for VMs.
The Spanning Backup protection is also available through the Good Program, which will offer non-profit organisations security in the cloud.
