Dell is set to launch a migration tool for consolidating data in the burgeoning market for enterprise social networks.
Migration Manger for Enterprise Social will allow companies to incorporate Jive Software’s content into the social network Microsoft Yammer, as well as provide oversight over the Jive environment to see which content should be moved or eliminated.
Steve Dickson, VP and GM at Dell Software Windows Management, said: "Being first to market with an enterprise social migration solution is proof-point of our commitment to innovation.
"We’ve worked closely with Microsoft to gather the requirements necessary to migrate to Office 365 workloads such as SharePoint, OneDrive for Business and now Yammer."
According to Dell the product will preserve many of the qualities of the Jive content during the move, including metadata, links and attachments, as well as permissions associated with users accounts to maintain security across systems.
The launch builds on the company’s previous experience moving email accounts to Microsoft Exchange, with the product set to be unveiled at Microsoft Ignite 2015 in Chicago this May.
Bryan Goode, senior director of enterprise social at Microsoft: "Migration Manager for Enterprise Social fills a need in the market by allowing organizations to forego the expense and burden of supporting multiple social networks.
"Businesses now can easily migrate from standalone social solutions to Yammer and Office 365 and improve team collaboration without having to resort to a risky, expensive, labour-intensive manual consolidation process."
