Samsung Electronics America has partnered with Google to launch Series 5 Chromebook laptop and desktop which will run on Google Chrome operating system, a year after announcing the products.

The Chrome operating system will allow users to shift all their applications into Internet "cloud" and access their files securely from anywhere while the sync technology backs up the preferences, bookmarks and apps allowing users to access them from a Chrome browser on another device.

Chrome operating system in the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook and Series 3 Chromebox will also enable users go online in seconds, load web pages with enhanced speed and access to all user favorite apps in one click through the app launcher.

Both the Samsung’s new products features a 16GB SSD and 4GB of RAM, as well as powered by Intel Celeron B840 Dual Core (1.9 GHz) processor.

The Chromebook will not have a hard drive and they function like terminals dependent on an Internet connection while two USB ports to connect external hard drives and other devices.

Weighing over three pounds and measures less than an inch thick while Chromebox measures 7.6 x 7.6 x 1.3-inches, the Seris 5 chromebook boots up in as little as just seven seconds.

It also features a 12.1-inch, SuperBright LCD screen, an optional built-in 3G wireless feature from Verizon Wireless and a built-in webcam.

Google Product Management director Caesar Sengupta said, "This next-generation hardware from Samsung based on Intel processors and hardware-accelerated software delivers nearly three times the performance of the first-generation Chromebooks."

Series 3 Chromebox users can now connect their desktops to monitors up to 30-inches in size, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, or even an HDTV using the Display Port output. Users can also connect up to six USB devices to upload photos or save files.

The new products also features automatic updates that will update users with the latest functionality, without any hassle. Security features are also built-in and updated to defend against the ongoing threat of malware and viruses, reducing the need for users to install anti-virus software.

Both the new Samsung products also features the Google Cloud Print for easy web printing to any Samsung Google Cloud Print ready laser printer.
