Microsoft has reportedly started working on the next update for its Windows OS, codenamed ‘Redstone’, which is likely to arrive after Windows 10 is rolled out to all devices.
Threshold, a codename given to Windows 10, is set to release this summer, and after its release the company is likely to release small yet regular fixes as part of its "Windows as a service" model.
According to reports, Redstone is the codename given to releases scheduled for 2016.
Previously, Microsoft highlighted that it will roll out updates at a faster rate than in the past, with the company reportedly entering into the planning stages of the update.
The company is also reportedly planning to provide its software, regardless of the platform.
Redstone is not likely to be a major update, as with Windows 10 the company is revamping the entire platform, reported Neowin.
The publication also speculates that Redstone could be related to Microsoft’s Windows Server, which is expected to be released in 2016.
