Foreign ambassadors from the UK, Russia and Kazakhstan were involved in conversations with the UAE Space Agency last week.
Chairman Dr. Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi and Director General Dr. Mohammad Nasser Al Ahbabi met with representatives from the three countries to review potential avenues of cooperation in the fields of academia, science and manufacturing technology within the space industry.
UK’s Ambassador to the UAE, Phillip Parham, was at the meeting with the space agency as well as counterpart Alexander Efimov, Russia’s Ambassador to the UAE.
A delegation from Kazakhstan, headed by Mr. Talgat Musabayev, Space and Civil aviation Advisor to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and Head of the National Space Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who was accompanied by Kairat Lama Sharif, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the UAE, also discussed the future of the space industry within the Persian Gulf.
The delegation recognised the importance of UAE establishing a space agency and its plans to join the race for space discovery and the planned launch of the Mars probe project.
The agency explained the importance for the country to establish itself, launch the Mars probe project, and the role of the agency in creating a scientific base.
The future development of an advance Emirate space sector was also welcomed by the four nations.
Earlier this month, the UAE Space Agency Working Group on Space Policy and Law discussed a development plan, space law and organisational regulation.
