The House of Commons Commission will be giving an iPad Air 2 and laptop to all of its 650 MPs, which could cost the UK government around £200,000 a year.
iPads have been used in Parliament since 2012, but until now only 209 MPs owned one.
The Express cited Liberal Democrat John Thurso as saying that moving away from Apple’s mobile OS will incur more costs, as it will require changes to Westminster’s current business processes.
However, Shadow Cabinet Office minister Chi Onwurah was unhappy with the House’s decision to use Apple’s mobile operating system.
Onwurah added: "As we saw with Nigel Mills and Candy Crush, MPs will be using the games, and the iTunes and other features on the iPad."
"Locking some of the most powerful people in the country into a platform that most of my constituents can’t afford seems like a mistake.
"And that’s without mentioning the tax avoidance issue. I’m pushing for a device independent digital platform for Parliament."
According to reports, the decision to buy iPads, despite its hefty price tag, is being linked to a programme designed to save money in Parliament.
