The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is expanding top level domain name allotment, allowing users to claim generic domains like porn or .sucks from 1st June.

ICANN decided to expand the number of generic top-level domains in order to be more relevant to the user searching for a website.

According to reports, Taylor Swift has reportedly bought, TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult , and Microsoft has also bought Office.adult and Office.porn.

CNN Money cited Safenames SVP Steve Miholovich as saying that corporations do not like to be associated with anything negative.

Miholovich added: "They want positive images — they want positive messages. They’re not going to turn [.sucks] into a positive.

"People who have bad intentions are going to do what they’re going to do and there’s nothing to prevent that."

According to reports, .sucks domain has come under for criticism, as well as premium sites including life.sucks and divorce.sucks.
