Mountain View, California-based Applicast Inc has set up an applications service provider business aimed at fast-growing high-tech manufacturers and internet companies. It has partnered with Siebel Systems Inc for front-office software, SAP AG for ERP, and GTE Data Services for its systems and network management infrastructure. Customers access the Applicast Business Applications Network for a base starting from $6,000 plus monthly charges. Early customers include start-up networking equipment firm CoSine Communications Inc and manufacturing services company Flash Electronics. The company, which started its life known as Plenan Systems, was founded in June 1998 by CEO John McGrory and SVP Mel Zeledon, who both came from Oracle Corp.
