Oracle Corp will tomorrow add another application to its FastForward program, this time enabling rapid implementation – within 60 days Oracle says – of its sales compensation software. The package includes the software giant’s existing sales compensation module, part of Oracle’s customer relationship management suite, as well as Oracle Reports, the 8i database and Oracle’s application server. It’s been designed as a one-stop software purchase providing everything a company needs to run a smooth compensation scheme, says Eve Milrrod, senior director of the Go To Market division within Oracle worldwide marketing. On top of the software, the package also includes user education and training and ongoing support for one year.

Oracle claims the module can help companies increase sales by automating the calculation of commissions. In the past, Milrrod said, salespeople would waste time working out complicated compensation packages manually which meant they spent less time concentrating on their jobs. The software includes features such as transaction processing, compensation calculation and reporting capabilities which reduce manual processing and as a result manage compensation plans more accurately and effectively.

Like the other applications in the FastForward range, this latest addition is aimed at medium-sized companies that typically can’t afford to buy and run the so-called tier one applications. The idea is to get the applications in as fast as possible with as little customization as possible, Milrrod said. The FastForward initiative was announced in August 1998 and since then 12 offerings have been released. FastForward Sales Compensation will be available in the US this Tuesday and pricing will be announced at launch.
