Taking advantage of what it claims is a chronic lack of available management tools for Lotus Notes and Domino users, Candle Corp has bundled up a suite of its Intelliwatch point products for tracking and measuring the performance of Lotus-based applications, databases, web server and email functions. Much of it is packaging and not a lot is new, however. Pinnacle includes the Intelliwatch analysis, monitor and tracer tools from Candle’s 1996 acquisition of CleverSoft Inc (CI No 2,959), were previewed at last year’s LotusPhere (CI No 3,088) and have since been integrated through a performance manager console. Candle claims alternative management programs for use with Lotus are either too large and inflexible – such as IBM Corp’s own Tivoli Systems Inc framework software – or plain rudimentary. Pinnacle enables administrators to track Domino and Notes performance and problems, measure service-level agreements, monitor server uptime and availability, and analyze historical management data to plan for future usage requirements. As part of the package, announced at this year’s LotuSphere jamboree in Orlando, Florida, Candle’s added a new Intelliwatch module for managing cc:Mail applications. Candle says sales from Intelliwatch products have grown at a 500% clip in the last year. It claims 300 customers for the software, including half of the Fortune 500 companies with Domino and Notes. Prices start at $16,000 for users with Notes and Domino 4.5 or higher on Windows NT. Meantime, Phoenix, Arizona-based InfoImage Inc is to resell the IntelliWatch programs as part of its Essential Tools groupware and servers administration software.
