UK based networking firm Gnodal has expanded the GS-Series with the new addition GS0072, a switch with 72 ports of 40 GbE built into a 2RU form factor.
The GS0072 is targeted at Cloud and Big Data environments where 10GbE edge connectivity is required to accommodate a vareity of virtual clients as well as High Performance Computing applications that may require native 40 Gbps capability to achieve enhanced scalability and throughput.
Gnodal’s adaptive switching technology is derived from a custom made ASIC and the GS0072 is the a multi-ASIC product from Gnodal.
The new switch is a cost-effective alternative to complex chassis-based applications, the company said.
The GS-Series is built to scale from 72 ports to a massive network of up to 64,000 ports by combining other members of the family to create a cost-effective, ultra-low latency, highly utilized Ethernet Fabric.
The series includes an initial port-to-port latency of 282ns and additional hops at 66ns, multi-stage networks containing thousands of ports that can be assembled with an overall system latency 414ns.
