MarketFirst Software has finally appointed its first chief executive, in the shape of Peter Tierney. MarketFirst launched its enterprise resource planning software for marketing departments in February and raised $6m in second round funding the following month. Tierney is the man who turned Inference Corp around and took it public, but resigned in March. Prior to Inference, Tierney was a senior VP at Oracle Corp and has also served as an executive at Ingres and IBM Corp. Market First, which recently moved to Mountain View, California, counts among its original investors Katrina Garnett, chief executive of CrossWorlds Software Inc, Nimish Mehta, senior VP industry applications at Oracle and Chris Roon, PeopleSoft’s VP marketing.
