The GSN Gigabit System Network – nee Super-HiPPI, nee HiPPI-6400 – can send data down duplexed connections at 6400 megabits per second, not 6400 gigabits per second as we reported yesterday (CI No 3,372). Although Silicon Graphics Inc said various companies had demo’d early GSN work at last year’s Supercomputing show Essential Communications Inc claims the only GSN technology on show was a photograph of its GSN switch which will begin shipping this September to early users.
