IBM Corp explains the mobile version of messaging software, which it calls MQ Series Everywhere, is one product which can be configured in two versions. It’s a cut-down version of the current MQSeries 5.1 release and can be tweaked to perform in asynchronous or synchronous modes. The asynchronous configuration includes a queue manager enabling PDA users to get to an application server and pass on messages to any of the 35 platforms supported by MQSeries. IBM explains that MQSeries’ guaranteed delivery services mean that, in addition to receiving stock market feeds, brokerage houses will be able to perform stock trades from mobile devices. IBM claims the software’s assured message delivery functions makes PDAs real for transactional business. In addition to versions of Psion Plc’s Epoc embedded operating systems there will be MQSeries cuts for Java and Windows CE.
