HP has upgraded its Unix platform, HP-UX which is designed to enable clients to increase the server efficiency and offer enhanced applications for business processes.
The additions to HP-UX 11i v3 include enhancements to HP Serviceguard and HP virtualization solutions, to simplify virtualized workloads management through a single graphical user interface currently coming for HP vPars and HP Integrity Virtual Machines 6.1.
Other features involve improving server efficiency using HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) software, which allows clients to virtualize mission-critical workloads.
The company’s flagship HP Integrity server, HP UX vPars, is now available across the entire HP Integrity product line to help optimize server resources, earlier available only for HP Superdome, the company said.
The new product also offers critical applications with a wider range of storage and databases, including HP LeftHand P4000 storage, Sybase ASE 15.7 and Enterprise DB, using failover protection from HP Serviceguard solutions.
Through HP-UX vPars software, HP-UX will deliver better input/output (I/O) performance for storage-intensive applications, and allow applications to access up to 2,048 disks per virtual partition, scaling up to support data-intensive workloads, such as business intelligence and data mining, HP stated.
With HP Superdome 2 environment enabled BayWa, operational and service processes can be simplified, increasing SAP Application Performance Standard (SAPS) performance values from 160,000 to 420,000.
Offered as part of HP Project Odyssey, HP-UX performance features will cascade to Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems and deliver investment protection to clients to extend performance for future x86 workloads.
