Nice Systems Ltd, the Ra’Annana, Israel developer of digital recording technology, said second quarter net income was $4.3m compared to $5.1m in the period last year, as revenue grew 19% to $28.5m. First half revenues grew 17% to $55m. Nice said its increased focus on the call center market helped grow North American sales to 54% of the total for the second quarter, an increase of 23% against sales in the sector in the same period last year. Earlier this year the company was considered a likely bid target for Lucent Technologies, which is looking to increase its strength in customer relationship management systems, but last Monday the Israeli company said it had signed a letter of intent to acquire STS Software Systems, the voice over IP and internet telephony subsidiary of MER Telemanagement Systems, Bnei Brak, Israel.
