Phoenix, Arizona based software maintenance and year 2000 company Viasoft Inc has announced that it has acquired EraSoft Technologies for $7.75m. EraSoft specializes in year 2000 assessment and analysis software for the desktop with products for evaluating problems in all data files as well as Real Time Clock and BIOS operations. Viasoft says it will be working to integrate the desktop software from the Calgary Canada-based firm with its own mainframe applications, saying it plans to launch what it describes as a major new initiative in the desktop arena layer this quarter. The acquisition will be accounted for as a purchase with Viasoft agreeing to make additional payments based on sales of EraSoft products through June 30, 2000.
