US Army has awarded the Army Private Cloud contract (APC2) to HP Enterprise Services to provide the Department of Defense and other federal agencies with enterprise cloud computing services.
The new contract with HP will help the Army utilise industry capabilities via cloud applications and acquire specific cloud computing services to consolidate data centres by establishing a secure, cost-effective private cloud.
The APC2 is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract (IDIQ) award for a period of one-year and four one-year options.
The US Army has divided the APC2 contract to acquire enterprise cloud computing services in two suites where HP will provide services for both suites.
The first suite will utilise private cloud computing capacity for commercial or government-owned buildings, delivering savings while second suite will utilise mobile, containerised data centres for contingency operations or when rapid or temporary cloud computing is needed.
HP will also team with 10 small businesses and Alabama A&M University to provide a range of critical services which are available for both fixed and deployed locations.
The services will be availed for both fixed and deployed locations which include network connectivity, information assurance, certification and accreditation support, application migration, private cloud operations and maintenance, supply chain risk management, service support and service delivery.
