Panasonic is the latest company to introduce a multimedia LCD projector designed to display text, graphics and video. Called the PT-L555E, it is priced at 4,995 pounds and weighs five kilograms. It features a PCMCIA port to enable presentations without a personal computer. Instead presentations can be saved in Microsoft Powerpoint format onto a flash memory card, which can be plugged directly into the projector to display a presentation. The projector has a fixed three color polysilicon display measuring 800 by 600 pixels. It can handle VGA, SVGA and XGA (1024 by 768) resolutions. The displayed image measures 400 lumens in brightness. In Focus Inc and Philips brought out their multimedia projector offerings this month too. (CI Nos 3,373 and 3,376).
