Santa Cruz Operation Inc thinks Data General Corp’s investment in UnixWare is a clear sign that DG has abandoned any notion it might have had to shack up with Sun Microsystems Inc for its 64- bit Unix requirement. SCO also thinks IBM Corp will swing more strongly to UnixWare and clarify that it will not be doing anything with Solaris.
Sun says NT won’t cut it on Merced
Meanwhile, Sun thinks Intel, Compaq, Data General, ICL and Unisys’ investment in SCO is a clear sign Windows NT isn’t going to be ready for the enterprise by the time Merced hits the street. With all the NT big guns in the room SCO didn’t really talk about comparisons with NT on its call Tuesday (CI No 3,355).
