A study by The Economic Times and Probity Research says the top wealth creators in India are information technology firms. The big three over a three-year period are Satyam Computer, Wipro and Infosys Technologies. Surprisingly, there are very few MNC stocks among the wealth creators. The top software wealth creators in addition to the top three are Software Solutions, NIIT and Tata Infotech. Meanwhile, India’s Software exports may exceed $2.6bn by the end of this fiscal year, running from April 1998 to March 1999. Software exports were unaffected by the recessionary trends in India and have already crossed the $1.8bn mark in the first nine months. Export revenues stood at $1.53bn last fiscal.
