Irvine, California-based chipmaker Broadcom is planning to buy Israel-based developer of processors BroadLight for $230m, according to the Israeli website the TheMarker.
According to the site, it is expected that Broadcom will issue a statement on Wednesday on the purchase.
Broadcom, which makes communication chips that are used in tablets, smartphones and other devices, was established in 2000 and has raised $55m from investors including Azure Capital Partners, Benchmark Capital, Motorola Ventures and Star Ventures, according to the Reuters.
This is said to be Broadcom’s 10th buy in Israel.
Broadcom Global President and CEO Scott McGregor was quoted by TheMarker as saying that Broadcom’s intention is to continue to acquire companies in Israel.
BroadLight officials could not be reached for comment.
