Iomega Corp has won the Citizen Watch Co of Japan as an OEM customer and development partner for its Clik portable storage drives for digital handhelds, personal digital assistants, printers and consumer devices. The two firms have signed a licensing and co-development agreement, and Citizen will manufacture and market the Clik drives, which use Iomega’s 40Mb disks, for its own portable electronics products, as well as selling them on to other OEMs. The two are also working together to develop enhanced versions of the drives. Iomega announced the Clik drives back in November last year (CI No 3,290), but they aren’t available yet, and aren’t expected to appear on the market until the second half of this year. Disks are expected to be priced at under $10.
