Advanced Micro Devices Inc boosted the K6-2 chip up to 475MHz yesterday, and IBM Corp says it will use the new chip in its Aptiva range of consumer PCs. The chip operates a 2.4 volts and has a 95MHz processor bus. Prices start at $212 for quantities of 1,000. Meanwhile, continuing the price war, Intel Corp is expected to cut the prices of most of its products between 10 and 20% next week as it paves the way for more product launches later this month.
