USinternetworking Inc, the applications service provider posted better-than-expected earnings for its third quarter to September 30 after claiming $57m worth of new business during the three- month period. Annapolis, Maryland-based USi posted a net loss of $27.8 million or 69 cents a share up 17.7% on a net loss of $23.6m or 66 cents a share for the second quarter. Analysts polled by First Call had on average tipped a 74 cents a share loss for the quarter. New service contracts were 47.6% up on the previous quarter helping the fledgling firm to revenue of $9.8m – a 46% increase over sales for the second quarter.
