Gas pumps and retail kiosks are shaping up to become a new forum for web content and advertising. BP Amoco Plc has signed a three-year contract with Tokhiem Corp, which will supply the multinational oil company with internet pumps. The Fort Wayne, Indiana-based company is preparing new pumps based on the Windows CE operating system, which will provide weather and traffic, updates and carry advertising. Earlier this month, America Online Inc invested $10m in Radiant Systems Inc to put the AOL client in gas pumps and point of sales terminals across the US. Analysts have predicted that by 2003 up to 75% of web access will be via a non-PC device.
