Dedicated email appliance server company Mirapoint Inc claims to be working on at least a dozen portal deals which are being handled by application service providers, wireless integrators, and carrier-class companies that are the conduits to provide outsourced revenue. The portals don’t buy, integrate, host their data center racks, or maintain the equipment for email services to their members. They rely on the application outsourcing vendors to offer them a service, priced on a per mailbox basis, for a period of time (one-to-two-year service contract). It claims that the pricing offered to the portals using Mirapoint gear shatters the price performance barriers in the IP messaging front, while still proving to be lucrative as an annuity revenue stream for the service provider and an instant revenue, based on unit sale, to Mirapoint.
