Cybermeals, the online restaurant ordering system that inked a $20m deal with America Online Inc, has now agreed to a similar deal with Excite Inc. In a deal similar to the one with AOL, Cybermeals has agreed to hand over $15.5m, plus a percentage of transaction revenues, in exchange for becoming the exclusive provider of takeout and delivery meal ordering service on Excite.com. Cybermeals will receive prominent placement on various Excite.com channels, including Lifestyle, Shopping and Travel for the length of the four-year deal. Cybermeals claims to have 11,000 restaurants under contract and plans to expand internationally in 1998.
