Digital camera consultancy and software provider, Pixology Software and Systems, will announce a new version of its PhotoWallet digital camera software in the summer. Pixology is the new name for the Digital Camera Co of Guildford, Surrey. The name change was announced at Cebit in a move to highlight the company’s efforts in the software and systems market for the capture, organization and use of digital pictures. We made the name change because people just thought we were a digital camera company, said Nigel Biggs, managing director at Pixology. PhotoWallet is a similar technology to the ixla Digital Camera Interface software offered by ISR Group Ltd of Danbury, Connecticut (CI No 3,343). The ixla Digital Camera Interface is designed to automatically detect a digital camera regardless of which manufacturer it is from rather than need a software driver for cameras from each different vendor. Pixology announced its new Piccolo software at Cebit too. The software recognizes all digital cameras and image memory card formats, the company said, which means that the digital camera can be plugged into a reader that recognizes the type of digital camera and automatically displays the pictures on screen. It will be out in April for Windows 95 and NT users. The Digital Camera Co was set up in NBA Quality Systems Ltd by 1996 by to promote digital camera technology and advise clients on which to use.
