Enterprise social network Yammer has added SAP integration to its arsenal, allowing content from SAP ERP Central Component to appear in its activity stream.

The integration will work on Yammer’s Ticker, a Facebook news feed-style activity stream it launched in November 2011. The company had already announced integration with other enterprise applications such as NetSuite, salesforce.com and SharePoint.

Now users of the Yammer SAP Connector will see updates from all business suite applications including HR, ERP and CRM, the company said in a statement.

The Connector is a plug-in that is installed on the customer’s SAP platform. The Connector will pull through any information from SAP and display it in the user’s activity stream. The story in Yammer will then link back to the original in SAP, so the user can take any necessary action.

Integrating Yammer with SAP could potentially open the business-oriented social network up to a huge number of new clients. David Sacks, founder and CEO, added: "The Yammer SAP Connector increases the value of Yammer for several of our large enterprise customers who use SAP daily to manage business processes."

Yammer also announced integration with a few other enterprise application providers: business content aggregation platform GageIn; Kindling, the "ideation company"; media monitoring platform Moreover Technologies; portfolio and program (PPM) management vendor Planview; and Sparqlight, a vendor of cloud-based workflow management software.

"The integrations we announced today are a continuation of our strategy to be the social layer on top of all systems of record companies rely on, improving collaboration and decision-making around critical business activity," Sacks added.
