The WaveTop division of WavePhore Inc has announced alliances with six TV tuner board and two TV/PC manufacturers for its WaveTop broadcast service. WaveTop’s software will be bundled with TV tuner boards produced by Aims Labs, Aitech, Aver Multimedia, Diamond Multimedia, Ixmicro, and Tekram. In addition, television and PC convergence manufacturers, Net TV and 4Tel, will bundle WaveTop software. WaveTop is a modem-less content delivery service for the home PC market. WaveTop’s data broadcast service works by embedding data streams into existing broadcast television signals using the Vertical Blanking Interval. To receive the transmission, the PC needs to have a television tuner.
