Marimba Inc, the Mountain View, California-based enterprise software distribution and management company, has reported a second-quarter net loss of $1.5m on revenue up 87.1% at $6.9m, compared to a loss of $1.2m in the year-ago quarter. Excluding $451,000 in amortization charges, the loss would have been $0.06, when analysts surveyed by First Call were looking for a loss of $0.07. The results represent the first quarterly financial report for the company since going public in May.
Second-quarter license revenue was $4.9m, up 56% year-over-year. Service revenue, which includes maintenance, consulting and training, was $2.0m, up from $526,000 for the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 88%, down from 89% a year ago. For the six-month period, net loss was $3.1m on revenue up 94.6% at $13m, against a loss of $2.5m last year. á
