Shares in Reed Elsevier picked up yesterday from the twelve month lows that followed a profit warning two weeks ago. Observers agree the company is vulnerable to a takeover bid. Plans to merge with Dutch publisher Wolters Kluwer broke down earlier this year, and a reshuffle is in process, with co-chairs Herman Bruggink and Nigel Stapleton planning to step down so as to streamline management.
