Apple won a patent case in Germany against Motorola Mobility regarding a "slide-to-unlock" feature it uses on smartphones.
A district court in Munich granted an injunction against some of Motorola’s smartphones and ruled that the devices infringe the iPhone maker’s slide-to-unlock gesture patent.
The court checked three slide-to-unlock implementations on Motorola devices, of which two of them were found to violate Apple’s patent.
Motorola was not found guilty of patent infringement on its Xoom tablet.
The judgement is considered as Apple’s first patent victory over Motorola in any part of the world.
Reports reveal the court ruling could impact patent disputes involving Android device makers worldwide.
Meanwhile, Motorola said it intends to appeal.
Last December, Motorola Mobility Holdings won a ruling against Apple in another smartphone patent dispute in Germany, which led the Cupertino-based company to remove some of its products from the online stores in that country.
