The European Billing Association announced yesterday that it will be backing the Quality Billing Center model from Kansas City-based consultancy The Network Management Group, Inc as the standard for measuring billing systems in use in the European market.

The trade association decided earlier this year to promote a standard for measuring the quality of billing and service management packages in Europe, and after surveying the products on offer over the period of a month, chose QBC.

The NMG product is described by its owner as a proprietary end-to-end revenue assurance model, which contains quality improvement methods and tools that are applied to the telecommunications industry; diagnostic reports and industry metrics. It is currently in use at major telcos such as Bell Atlantic in the US and Australian incumbent Telstra. EBA executive director Alex Leslie said it had selected QBC because the tool is independent of any supplier.
