Cisco will resell Citrix XenDesktop as part of an integrated desktop virtualisation offering based on the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS).

The integrated desktop virtualisation offering is said to simplify the deployment of high-definition virtual desktops and applications to all users across the enterprise and the offering is one of the core modules of Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI).

The resale agreement allows customers to take advantage of Cisco Capital financing offerings when purchasing the integrated Cisco and Citrix desktop virtualisation offering which can reduce capital expenditures and spread out the cost.

The integrated desktop virtualisation service includes customised kits for Citrix XenDesktop user scenarios which ease operations by accelerating deployment times and enable customers to adapt to business change by providing centralised delivery of desktops, applications and data with management and enhanced security.

Citrix XenDesktop combined with Cisco VXI provides a cost-effective, scalable and high-performance offering for hosting, securing and optimising the delivery of virtual desktops and applications to any device, anywhere, said Cisco.

Citrix Enterprise Desktops and Applications Product Marketing vice-president John Fanelli said the new resale agreement between Cisco and Citrix is yet another step in Citrix’s ongoing 5-year strategic agreement.

"The pre-architected and optimized joint solution is speeding the enterprise adoption of desktop virtualization," said Fanelli.
