Symantec has opened its expanded Security Operations Center (SOC) in Herndon to support the rapid growth of the Symantec Managed Security Services (MSS) group.

Symantec’s SOCs offer real-time, comprehensive protection from known and emerging threats, enabling organisations to minimize risk and strengthen their security posture and analyse more than 12 bn logs worldwide each day to provide enterprise-wide protection and help customers bolster defenses and respond to new threats as they emerge.

The new SOC in Herndon joins Symantec’s other global SOCs in the UK, Australia and India as part of the first line of defense against cyber threats for customers around the world.

Symantec is reportedly the first MSSP to offer an enterprise-wide pricing model worldwide, simplifying the process for customers to acquire and maintain managed security services, even as their organisation changes and delivers 24×7 security monitoring and management services by expert security staff to organizations around the world.

Symantec Managed Security Services Product Management senior director Brian Dunphy said businesses today are operating in times of advanced persistent threats and targeted attacks, therefore they require powerful technology, accurate threat intelligence, proven processes and experienced professionals to combat them.

"Our new Security Operations Center provides capacity for more than twice the number of technical staff to help us more effectively scale our Managed Security Service offerings to our growing number of customers worldwide," said Dunphy.
