IBM Corp’s Tivoli Systems Inc has tightened its relationship with Marimba Inc, announcing an OEM agreement that includes the integration of Marimba’s Castanet technology into Tivoli’s new e- commerce management suite, Cross-Site. Castanet is the basis for one of the suite’s three components, Cross-Site for Development, which allows for the deployment and management of applications across the internet. Tivoli intends to fully integrate Castanet into the Cross-Site framework, which includes the two other components of the suite, Cross-Site for Availability and Cross- Site for Security. The announcement signals the culmination of the work begun last September when the two companies first announced a strategic partnership (CI No 3,243). Availability of the integrated products is scheduled for the third quarter of this year. Cross-Site for Development will be sold as a stand- alone product, as well as with the suite. No pricing details are being disclosed at this time, and Tivoli wouldn’t comment on specific customer deals beyond saying that discussions are ongoing. Tivoli says the deal is non-exclusive and does not involve the exchange of source code, but allows it to embed Castanet into the Cross-Site suite.
