Open Horizon Inc went belly-up last month after its venture backers turned off the tap figuring enough was enough after four years and as many changes of product strategy with still no discernible business proposition going forward. In shutting the doors the DCE middleware company, last seen wearing Java publish-and-subscribe colors, ceded source code to its Ambrosia products to its licensees. Insiders described the VCs’ actions as a mercy killing. For lots of reasons no buyer could be found for the company. ERP configuration start-up Clarity’s already appeared out of the embers; watch this space for consulting company U1 due to break cover in a couple of weeks.
