Chinese-language software developer Shanghai Huateng Software Systems (SCUBE), has launched a new e-commerce solutions package which is expected to give a huge boost to consumer to business online transactions.
Until now online shopping in China has been limited to a relatively small number of credit card holders, but the new system from SCUBE allows online shoppers to use debit card and bank cards for the first time. In Shanghai, where the system has initially been launched, there are only 1.15 million credit card holders, but approximately 12 million debit card holders.
The e-commerce package has three components, TOPGate, which banks use to process card payments, TOPay which allows merchants to accept and process payments online and TOPWallet which provides a Chinese-language interface for entering and storing bankcard and personal information.
