The Santa Cruz Operation Inc yesterday released the latest version of its Tarantella application broker software. Tarantella 1.3 comes with the ability to publish Windows NT 4.0 terminal server applications to Windows clients. Previously Tarantella was only able to publish Unix and mainframe 3270 applications, but now users can connect directly to Microsoft Corp’s Windows Terminal Server. SCO says that it is also working with Microsoft Corp on additions to the Windows NT 5.0 operating system, and hopes to further expand beyond its traditional small and medium-sized customer base with next year’s major upgrade to Tarantella – version 2.0 – which will aim to make the software easier to manage and improve its security for use in business to business applications, such as making credit card entries.
