Parametric Technology Corp, the Waltham, Massachusetts-based CAD and engineering software developer, has bought the rights to Rand Worldwide’s ModelCheck software for an undisclosed sum. ModelCheck helps enforce company modeling standards and best practice. It is a kind of grammar and spell checker for engineers, said Brian Shepherd, Parametric’s vice president for technical marketing, design and product applications.
ModelCheck is already integrated with Parametric’s Pro/Engineer mechanical design software and will cost users an additional $1,995 per seat. Parametric will target the new software at around 220,000 Pro/Engineer users. Pro/Engineer pricing starts at $6,000 per seat and rises to around $20,000 for high-end capability.
