Xerox Corp will today introduce several new products at its recently-opened New York marketing facility, the Knowledge Sharing Centre. The company will launch two new personal digital laser copier/printers priced under $1,000 that will be targeted at the small office/home office (SOHO) market, the XE80 and XD100. Announcements are also expected to include network connectivity for current digital products. Analysts at Merrill Lynch & Co say the company’s digital products are ramping well and feel that the new products will leave rival Canon Electronics Inc challenged to come up with competitive models. Merrill also says Xerox will not reposition itself as the knowledge company, as the Wall Street Journal had indicated. Instead, the new marketing push will center around knowledge sharing through documents – a lame and obvious slogan if we ever heard one.
