Motorola Inc’s Lexicus Division has agreed to license Lernout & Hauspie Speech Product NV’s complete family of automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech and speech and music compression technologies. Motorola will add the proprietary L&H technology to Lexicus’ existing collection of handwriting and speech offerings. The family of products covered by the license includes the ASR 200, a small-vocabulary recognizer for use in automotive and consumer electronics applications, and the ASR 1500 and ASR 1600 engines, phonetic speaker independent recognizers designed for embedded computer, multimedia and telecommunications applications. Motorola’s Lexicus division develops and provides handwriting and speech recognition software for desktop, mobile and embedded systems. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
