Rapidly growing Malaysian hard disk drive components maker Eng Teknologi Holdings Bhd is confident of capturing at least 15% of the world market this year, up from 12% in 1998, according to Alfred The, managing director of the Penang-based company.

Eng Teknologi, which claims to be Southeast Asia’s leading supplier and manufacturer of HDD mechanical components to multi-national companies, saw revenue increase by 115% to RM151m last year, while operating profit jumped 162% to RM32.5 million. The rate of growth has continued in the first half of this year, said The, with Eng Teknologi introducing a wider mix of actuator assemblies, voice coil magnet poles and HDD bases.

The company has applied to the Malaysian Securities Commission to be transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange main board from the second board by September this year.
