The Sybase tools expected to be launched at the PowerSoft User Conference next month (CI No 3,454) include version 6.5 of PowerBuilder, version 2.5 of the PowerJ development tool and version 2.0 of the Jaguar CTS transaction server, with the tools integrated more closely with Jaguar. The Jaguar server, on which Sybase’s vertically-oriented Financial Server has been built, is expected to include native support for the CORBA common object request broker and Microsoft Corp’s Component Object Model. Revenues from tools were one of the weakest aspects of Sybase’s second quarter figures, released at the end of last week. The conference takes place in Los Angeles and starts on August 10.
