Datrontech Group Plc, the UK-based memory, networking and storage products distributor, reported first quarter net profit of 870,000 pounds ($1.4m) down from 3.99m pounds ($6.43m) last time on revenue down 0.04% at 274.99m pounds ($443.15m). Earnings per share were ú0.018 ($0.03) compared to ú0.092 ($0.15) last time. The company said that problems in Central Europe, particularly in Poland and the Czech Republic, had an adverse effect on profits, with the scale of the loss in the region not becoming apparent until preparation for the year-end audit began. The company replaced the general manager and financial controller in Poland and said it has undertaken a complete review of operations in the region which have led to a recovery. The company also said its main core business in distributing networking products to the SME market remained strong, but it had not been able to achieve growth in its components business.
